Fort Phil Kearny plans Bozeman Trail Days events

Fort Phil Kearny State Historic Site is gearing up for several events held in conjunction with Bozeman Trail Days, June 17-19.

Beginning June 17, a dinner and symposium featuring noted historian Jack McDermott and Lakota scholar Sequoia Crosswhite will discuss “Red Cloud’s War.” The dinner and symposium will be held at the Kalif Shrine in Sheridan, 5:30 p.m. social hour, 6:30 p.m. dinner, 7:30 p.m. free symposium. The cost of the dinner is $25 per person.

Living History programs and tours of Fort Phil Kearny and the Fetterman Battlefield will take place June 18-19. Additionally, Crosswhite will present a Lakota dance and flute playing program during beginning at 1:30 p.m. on June 18. A small fee, in lieu of the normal gate fee, will be collected for the programs at Fort Phil Kearny.

Fort Phil Kearny State Historic Site is located three miles off of I-90 at Exit 44, and is administered by the Wyoming Department of State Parks and Cultural Resources. Bozeman Trail Days is co-sponsored by the Fort Phil Kearny/Bozeman Trail Association and the Wyoming Division of State Parks, Historic Sites and Trails.
